MetaFilter's site and server can always use upgrades of hardware, software, and bandwidth, as well as more stable funding for continued support of its small but high-skilled moderation and backend team! If you'd like to chip in, you can donate to Metafilter. |
IFTTT
IFTTT
IFTTT (pronunciation: "ift" as in "gift" according to the developer's site and short for "If This Then That") is a service that enables users to connect different web applications (e.g., Facebook, Evernote, Weather, Dropbox, etc.) together through simple conditional statements known as "Recipes".
As of 23 July 2014, IFTTT is now an Also On option on Metafilter. A list of MeFites who have an IFTTT account can be found on Metafilter.
If you create a recipe that is MetaFilter-related please consider tagging it with #MetaFilter, and/or list your recipes below. Please note that despite recipe names, most recipes can be used and then modified for your own use. For example, there is a recipe to "Alert me to New #MetaFilter Event in My State" that is based on the RSS feed from IRL for Vermont, but could be easily modified by using a different IRL RSS feed. That same recipe sends an iOS notification, but can be changed to send email or another alert type.
Recipes
- Ask MetaFilter Notification by Tag - This recipe is designed to send an iOS notification when an Ask MetaFilter topic of one's choice is tagged. In the example, an iOS alert is sent when someone tags their AskMe question with "vermont."
- Alert Me to New #MetaFilter Event in My State - This recipe is designed to send an iOS notification when a new IRL event is created in the state of Vermont.
- Post MetaFilter Favorites to Pinboard via Email - Favorite something at MetaFilter and automatically add it as a bookmark at Pinboard.
