Thanks so much, I was floundering around trying to do that and I wasn't sure if what i did was right. Appreciate the help. Jessamyn 02:35, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
wrong deletion
Dammit, me being stupid there. BTW I googled a bit about recaptcha and it seems like various people have figured out ways of hacking it... might look for alternatives at some point - Adrian
- No problem, I doubt Jacqueline noticed. I looked into modifying the MediaWiki account creation form and I think its doable -- I'm thinking about installing a local copy so I can test code modifications . If the spamming is fully automated a simple change that makes MeFi wiki different from other wikis running MediaWiki should be sufficient to defeat the spammer (as I think they'd be unlikely to make code changes to their spamming tool to accommodate a single target). —RichardP (talk) 00:30, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
Naming conventions
FYI I didn't see any guidelines for naming, so I was following the wikipedia conventions for article & category names ("Do not capitalize the second or subsequent words in an article title, unless the title is a proper noun.") --Jjwiseman (talk) 09:35, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
- I actually prefer the Wikipedia convention. I only changed it to be consistent with the existing categories (see Special:Categories) in which subsequent words are capitalized. By all means, please feel free to switch everything over to Wikipedia conventions. I'll help, if you like. —RichardP (talk) 09:39, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
I noticed you started converting the names of the categories in order to adopt the Wikipedia category naming conventions, so I figured I'd give you a hand with the effort. I think we've changed all the pages that reference a renamed category. Thanks for the help. —RichardP (talk) 00:05, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for doing 99% of the work :) --Jjwiseman (talk) 00:34, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
This is just to say
... that I appreciate the fixes. I'm probably used to much fancier installations of Mediawiki, not that fancier = better. The link did not display as purple (working and previously clicked) for me, it stayed red, hence the formatting. Category is cool too. Thanks! —Too-Ticky (talk) 07:54, 22 September 2017 (PDT)
- Too-Ticky, thanks for contributing the This is just to say article. With regards to your problem with the In Jokes page having a "stale" red link, there was probably just a cached version (either in the server or your browser) of the rendered page with the red link from before you created the This is just to say article. If it happens again, try clearing your browser cache. —RichardP (talk) 16:07, 23 September 2017 (PDT)
