Title: Debaters adroit and maladroit in Detroit (please someone come up with something better; not a lot rhymes with Detroit)

It may feel like we just did this, but it's time for <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/30/politics/watch-democratic-debate-time-schedule-lineup/index.html">the second set of Democratic presidential primary debates</a> in Detroit, with the first round starting at 8 p.m. ET tonight, July 30th. The largest field of any political party's presidential candidates hopes to make their case to the American electorate—and to voters in the <a href=https://www.michiganadvance.com/2019/07/25/poll-michigan-voters-say-immigration-helps-economy-split-on-health-care/>crucial 2020 swing state of Michigan</a>.

The lineup:

Tuesday, July 30: 1. Montana Gov. Steve Bullock, 2. South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, 3. Former Maryland Rep. John Delaney, 4. Former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, 5. Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, 6. Former Texas Rep. Beto O'Rourke, 7. Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan, 8. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, 9. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, 10. Author Marianne Williamson

With the debate schedule taking August off and tighter qualifying standards for the September debate, <a href="https://www.npr.org/2019/07/29/745606868/debate-may-be-last-ditch-effort-for-struggling-democrats-to-stay-alive">these debates may be the last hope for struggling candidates</a> (NPR).

Next stop: the third set of debates on September 12–13 and <a href="https://grist.org/article/msnbc-and-cnn-to-host-climate-events-for-the-presidential-candidates/">CNN and MSNBC-hosted candidate forums on climate</a>.
