Interested in Collaborating

  • ageispolis - remixing/sampling/microkorging, djembe, tuvan throat singing
  • AskmeaboutLOOM - Just about anything. Vocals (pretty much any style), mandolin (not very good), random percussion, horn, melodica, footstool, couch, korg ds-10, stylophones, theremin, synth, organ, effects, mixing. I deal mostly in textures, so if you want to add something crazy to your mix, MeMail me for requests or info.
  • azarbayejani - samples, ableton live, korg ms2000, piano, tuba, whatever else I have lying around. I like to do sad, kind of slow, electronic music, but I'm open to anything! MeMail me!
  • Baby_Balrog - Fiddle (bluegrass, Appalachian, old-timey, old world and creole) as well as classical violin, harmonica, mandolin, jaw-harp (which I'm damned proud of) and bones. I can sorta sing as well. Contact me through my mefi account. This is my band.
  • baxter_ilion - Tenor and alto saxophone, guitar, bass, piano/keyboards, glockenspiel, clarinet. My music.
  • chihiro - Violin. Mainly classical and I do read music, but I can play just about anything by ear. A project would be fun!
  • chococat - Jack of many trades, master of none. Bit of singing. Bit of acoustic. Bit of electric. Some Moog. Some drums. Glockenspiel. Uke. Cuatro. An old organ I found on the road. Roland 606. Melodika. Various shakey things. On Metafilter Music.
  • cortex - Acoustic (flat-picking and strumming) and electric guitar; banjo; lead and harmony vocals and arrangement; A straight / E cross harmonica; jew's harp (in D); acoustic upright bass. Try me.
  • dan g. - Guitar (electric - mostly countrified) Guitar (acoustic - flatpick bluegrass, old timey fiddle tune backup), bluegrass mandolin, banjo (clawhammer-ish mostly), fiddle (rank amateur), acoustic piano (bluesy comping and fills). minimalistic pro tools setup. some budget mics and preamps.
  • Dantien - I play keyboards and many types of percussion. I also work for the largest music instrument retailer. Always willing to collaborate on music!
  • Davejay - Rhythm Ukulele (simple, bouncy, fun), always happy to add cheesy synth organ to anything under the sun, vocals pleasantly but inexpertly applied -- for a taste, see "Minty Handy" entries at SongFight.org. MefiMail is best for contacting.
  • Devils Rancher - Electric bass player. Fretted and fretless, most styles, except classical, or math-rock.
  • drezdn - Bass (Electric and Upright), Very Little Keyboard, FL Studio, kazoo. I do some work on creating my own effects, could probably circuit bend stuff.
  • edlundart - I am occasionally available to add vocals or guitar, although I will usually take forever to get anything done due to multiple creative projects going on. Still, if you wrote something great that you think I could help make better or just different, MeFiMail me.
  • edverb - I play electric and acoustic guitars, electric bass, drum loops/Fruity Loops sequencing, sing backing vocal harmonies, and keys in that order. I used to gig a lot, now I record in my home studio. I'm game for any style, it's all about the song. I've posted some original material on MeFi Music. E-Mail in profile, or MeFi mail me. No egos or druggies or mullets. Batteries not included, offer void where prohibited, results not typical.
  • equalpants - Electric guitar (strat, cheap RG copy), keyboards (generic multi-voice Casio, non-circuit-bent SK-1), orchestrations/arrangements (MIDI or sheet music). MeMu examples; also, a couple of AADs are here (but these are mostly improvised with no outtakes, so they're less representative).
  • erikgrande - I can play and record electric & acoustic guitar, electric bass, and drums. Most of my experience is with rock and roll, but I'm open minded. Check my MeMu posts for examples, contact thru MeMail.
  • esdebah - Guitar, bass, glockenspiel, synth, fake drums, vocals, noise, noise, and noise. I do a lot of amateur recording, mixing and editing. I'm partial to punk, indie-rock, jazz, folk, noise/experimental and alt-country.
  • evstar - I play the drums. I can record from home. I enjoy toying with sound also. I'd be happy to record tracks and swap back and forth over the web. Email's in my profile.
  • Faint of Butt - Vocals. I'm a pretty decent baritone/bass, if I say so myself, and I'll sing anything: pop, trad, showtunes, barbershop, choral, you name it. I can also provide you with an entire crew of pirates at a moment's notice: Pirates for Sail. E-mail or MeMail is fine.
  • flapjax at midnite - I play drums and percussion, but recording a full drum kit might be problematic, so for the purpose of MeFi collabs I'd say percussion. That includes: talking drum, udu, bongos, frame drums, djembe, darbuka, etc. Also shakers, scrapers, bells, random pieces of junk, toys and gadgets, tubes, and things that aren't actually instruments but can get some sound coaxed from them if you're nice to them. Also some jawharp and mouthbow, some synth, and the occasional sample. I also sing. Here's my posts at MeFiMu and here's some of my songs at MySpace.
  • ford and the prefects - Electrofolk, electrosoftpop, sequencing, guitar, harmonica, slide whistle, banjo. Looking for a female vocalist - think Karen Carpenter - to add vocals to three or four tracks. Satirically maudlin and/or tragic lyrics. Especially seeking female vocals on Lookin' Out My Window (Rainy Season). Help! Contact via MeMail.
  • freya_lamb - Lady vox, harmonies, incoherent banging, rudimentary guitar, lyrics n' love. Contact via MeMail.
  • GalaxieFiveHundred Guitar, Casio DG-20 Digital guitar (yes!), various other casio products, tape recorder, airhorn, whatever silly sounds I can coax out of my mouth. Not, strictly speaking, a musician at all. If you pull the Oblique Strategies card that reads "Use 'unqualified' people" then I'm your dude.
  • goodnewsfortheinsane (M) - Guitars, keys, vocals, melodica, glockenspiel, programming (strings, Mellotron, organs, etc.). Sings in English, Dutch. Could sing in Spanish, French, German. Genre-agnostic. Likes weird and unexpected sounds, is obsessed with exposing the inner pop song in everything. Me at MeMu.
  • Grangousier - Guitar, singing, bass and all sorts of synthesised sounds. I also have Izotope RX if anyone needs hum or noise or irritating sounds to be removed from their takes.
  • item - guitar, synthesizer, organ, piano, Omnichord, vocals, and I'll give a stab at pretty much any instrument that's thrown at me. I'm influenced by everything from Fad Gadget to Leonard Cohen to the Fall to Roy Orbison to Brian Eno. I am not a fan of jazz or wanky solos. I currently don't have a decent way to record digitally, a shame as I've always got a song in my head, so I suppose any collaborations would have to me in the greater Dallas, Texas area.
  • Jessamyn - I have a banjo mandolin that I can barely play but like to send "tracks" I record to other people to make them sound good.
  • Karlos the Jackal - I am not quite a musician, but I can fake it, and I have a pretty good sense of rhythm and pitch. I can play a little autoharp, flute, and percussion. Toy keyboards (including Stylophone, melodica, and toy piano), gizmo harps (including Marxophone, Tremoloa, Chartola Grand, and Q-Chord), and various noisemakers (including Cracklebox, Thingamagoop, Gakken MiniSynth, and optical theremin) are also possible. My MeFiMu stuff is here; my music webpage is here, and it includes a gallery of instruments that I own here. I don't use a computer, but I can record digitally (Tascam 788) or analog (cassette 4-track), and am fully MIDI-capable.
  • KevinSkomsvold - Guitar (acoustic, slide, lap steel) and mandolin. Well versed in country, old and new and blues. Contact via Mefi mail or contact info at site.
  • Kimothy - Trumpet, and some minimal alto sax and uke. Much more proficient on the former than the latter two. My recording capability comes and goes with the moods of my equipment. Up for pretty much anything, but don't expect Maynard Ferguson to send you a track to mix.
  • koeselitz - Guitar (I own an acoustic dreadnaught), Mandolin (have one of those, too), jazz/other Piano (my forte, but I don't have one unfortunately), bass (don't have one), some accordion (don't have one of those, either). I can read music, but slowly, so give me some time with anything more complex that you want me to learn. MeMail is the best way to contact me. I have a relatively good tenor voice, too.
  • lekvar - Electric bass, two different flavors of unique banjo (acoustic and electric), some keyboards at a beginner level. Most music styles. I'm not one for writing songs, but I love to play and improvise.
  • limeonaire - I'm working on recording a song a day in 2017, focusing on singing (a large number of the songs I've recorded thus far have been a cappella covers) and playing rough-edged guitar (I've played for 20 years this year). I'd love to provide vocals or backing
  • loiseau - Drums & vocals & assorted toy instruments. My recording capabilities are unsophisticated (mic into USB interface into Garage Band) but I could probably find friends with full outfits to help if needed.
  • mahershalal - Very nice 70s Japanese drum kit played with chopsticks (here and here), acoustic guitar, voice, piano, xylophone, bass guitar, flute. Up for anything.
  • mexican - The Los Muchachos Mexicanos and be your rock band! Can play guitars, bass, drum kit (shitty style only), pandeiro, tamborim, and program synth, percussion, and the radio and comedy noises from GarageBand. Please specify either normal or shitty style when placing your order.
  • micayetoca - I have a handful of acoustic guitar-like instruments: a Venezuelan cuatro, a jarana, a Cuban Tres, a charango. Bass. Also a melodica. Some rather limited percussion. I can also help with Spanish and Portuguese lyrics/singing/spoken word. You can check out the stuff I've posted at MeMu to get an idea.
  • motty - Acoustic / electric / bass guitar; piano; synth things; some vocals, various styles, examples
  • nicolin - Guitars, acoustic and electric. Some blues harp, some flute. Samples [1].
  • nthdegx - I play with electronic music and editing, and am available for vocals too. You might like to contact me if you're interested in some different percussion, backing music on which to lay vocals, remix work, or experimental nonsense.
  • ocherdraco - I sing. And that's kind of it for the moment, though I am learning acoustic guitar.
  • Ogre Lawless - Well, I ain't got any recording equipment but I do have a good sense of rhythm, OK backing piano skills, a willingness to sing random crap and an interest in older folk music such as cowboy songs, Dixie and old blues, etc. Additionally play 3-5 chords on guitar, uke, mandolin; some accordion. Could be coerced into practice on some, all instruments. Based in Sacramento (Rosemont Area), CA. Can't move the piano but I, some-all instruments willing to travel to various mefites in the extra-Bay NorCal region though the piano requires downscaling to Roland EP70. Mail address in the profile is checked semi-regularly but have patience...
  • ORthey - Guitar (resonator, steelstring, nylon) and banjo. Mostly fingerpicking. Oh, and if you need French vocals, I'm your guy. Just drop me a MeMail! MeMusic [2].
  • Pallas Athena - Classically trained mezzo-soprano, will happily sing in any genre. Can harmonise by ear. Eldritch keening a speciality. Email in wiki profile or MeFiMail.
  • Phrontist - Self taught drummer of moderate skill, neophyte turntablist, aspiring piano/organ/synthesizer player. I have an acoustic drum kit, a microphone, and a jury-rigged pre-amp to soundcard setup that can produce a lo-fi finished product not unlike what you might hear on an old 45. For turntablism I have a timecode vinyl setup so if you can digitize a sound I can scratch it. If your track needs a melodica (note: not me in video) I'm your man. I also play (and can record pretty crisply) bongos and djembe. I enjoy messing around with software synthesizers and audio programming environments like AMS and supercollider.
  • Robotot - I play acoustic guitar and I can sing, pretty good at backing vocal harmonies. Samples of my stuff at www.virb.com/robotot and slowly adding it to MeMu. Email in profile.
  • Rock The Word - Rap/Vocals, production via Acid, lyric writer. My Metafilter Music is here. Contact me with Mefi mail (I typically respond pretty quick).
  • signal - Guitars, electric (tele) and acoustic (dreadnought and Martin Backpacker), slide, e-bow, harmonicas. Mostly sort of post-rock-blues, lots of noise. Decent interface, work mostly in Logic X. Happy to be contacted via MeMail. My memusic page.
  • snsranch - I play acoustic guitar, electric guitar, electric bass, jew's harp, harmonica and whatever else I can lay my hands on. Skill level medium rare.
  • supercres - Guitar (mostly acoustic, a mixture of percussive melody/chords) and saxophone (any, but I own a tenor at the moment). I'm a little sax rusty, though...
  • tdismukes - I'm up for supplying bass tracks for anyone who needs them. I also can play guitar a bit, but I'm more technically limited in what I can provide in that department. Contact me via MeFiMail to work out the details if you want me to play.
  • the great big mulp - I've got both an acoustic and electric ukulele, a toy piano, a reed organ, kazoos, some drums, an egg, and a bunch of old keyboards, all of which can be played with mediocrity.
  • TwoWordReview - Guitars are my instrument of choice, electric and acoustic. All styles considered. Particularly enjoy long, hectic guitar solos, the faster the better! Also use a lot of software sampling so pretty much anything goes there. Pretty solid production and mixing skills. Gritty style vocals also available upon request.
  • umbú - I had a moog synth as a kid (and sold it when I was 15 because I no longer thought it was cool (!) --one of my biggest regrets). I started playing fingerstyle guitar and lo-fi indie rock as a teenager, and brazilian pop and afro-pop as an adult. Now all of those musical impulses come out in random combinations whenever I sit down to record. I'm an all-purpose multi-instrumentalist sidekick who loves noodling in my backpack studio with Logic, Reason and Live. Some of the instruments I have include a cuica (a friction drum that sounds like a soft drink straw rubbing against the plastic lid), a keyboard accordion, a cavaquinho (a kind of steel-string uke) a zabumba (a wearable drum that looks like something in between a bass drum and a snare), and a hawaiian steel guitar that you play on your lap with a slide.
  • unSane - Guitars and keys mostly. Anything from thrashy Matthew Sweet stuff to acoustic doodlings to full on surf twang. Hammondy organs, rhodesy pianos. I have a Jazzmaster, a 335, a Burns 12, an acoustic, a bass, a full set of organ and mellotron samples, and a tambourine.
  • Your Time Machine Sucks - Voice. I write songs of the indie variety and play guitar and bass, but for collaboration purposes I'd be most interested in singing and I'm happy to do backup, especially harmonized. I don't have the greatest range but I'm told I have a nice voice (alto region) and I'm able to come up with nice counterpoint/harmony on the fly. Contact via mefimail.
  • ZachsMind - Voice. Baritone. Tho I have been known to carry a tune short distances, I'm far more interested in Spoken Word projects. I'm willing to say pretty much anything into a microphone, and have a wide variety of character voices. Influences in this area include Ken Nordine, Tom Waits, David Weiss, Jim Henson, Bill Burroughs, Laurie Anderson, and Hal Robins. A sampling of my past work is available courtesy of YQMOnline. Contact me via mefimail or use zachsmind at yahoo dot com.
  • Zenabi - Guitar. Electric and acoustic. Any style really. Contact via MefiMail.
